PARAKID

During Anime Impulse, I was able to walk around and adventure through artist alley, and noticed some lovely artwork. I dropped by Parakid’s booth and instantly loved her style. I wasn’t able to buy anything at the time, so I had to make sure to contact her about doing an interview, and with that in mind…HERE IT GOES!

Interview with Parakid:

1.How did you get into the art scene? What inspired you to create art?
I started taking an interest in art in 5th grade, it was at the end of middle school that I decided that I wanted to do art and animation as a profession. I would say what inspires me the most is emotion, and being able to capture it and put it down on paper. I’m in love with art that gives the viewer something to take from it, so I hope to one day be able to move people in the same way.

2. I’ve noticed your name or alias is Parakid. How did you come up with that name?
Parakid came from my Deviant Art username, which was Parachute-Kiddo. Since that was too long to type out, I decided to take the first letters of each word and combine it into something shorter!

3. If you had to describe your art style, what is it like? If you can describe your style in one word, what would it be?
That’s probably the hardest question to get asked, since my art is always changing. I got a little stressed out trying to think about a word, but I would say earthy? I try to made art that represents honest feelings, so I try to incorporate that into my lines.

4. Since I first saw your artwork at Anime Impulse, I’m assuming you are into anime. What is your favorite anime and do you ever draw inspiration from it?
Of course! There are a lot of great animes that are inspiring to me. My favorite anime (movie) is definitely Tekkonkinkreet. The characters are amazing and the backgrounds are insane, always refreshing to look at.

5. If you could relate yourself to an anime character, who would it be and why?
Hm, I really like the character Ran from Ran and the Gray World. She has a lot of love to give and believes in magic. More than relating to the character, I’m inspired to have that outlook on life and enjoy the little things, while appreciating the present.
