LVL UP EXPO 2017: The Convention in the City that Never Sleeps

LVL Up Expo is the ultimate gaming and anime convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.  It’s held in the Cashman Center on May 12-14, 2017. It was my first time out in the LV for a con, and was given the privilege to attend the event under Press. This was how it went down! 😀

The Cashman Center is a 2 leveled convention center with the main halls for the vendors and artists, gaming area, and EVEN WRESTLING ring. On the 1st and 2nd level held all the panels, where the guests spoke and some of the most entertaining panels, like WHY YOUR ANIME SUCKS! HAHAHA.

PANELS AND GUESTS

For the panelists that were presenting for LVL UP, were the following voice actors:

They had their own panels of Q&A with the audience, as well as meet and greets, which we were able to jump in on and check out.

These panels were definitely something that you should check out next time your at the con, but onto the next portion of the con… THE BOOOOOTHS!

BOOTHS AND VENDORS

The main halls were the homes to all of the vendors and artists, such as our friends from Kinfold and Creators Guild to our other new homies at Nerdy Bit and 3D Fandom. Anything that you were looking for from commissioned anime artwork, new and upcoming clothing brands, and even SWORDS OF ALL SORTS were available there. I managed to snag a couple of things from the convention, but that I can show you guys later!

Here was the layout of the convention center to give you guys a better idea of how much there was to do there!

If you can’t tell already, there was a lot of booths to check out. There were 85 vendors and 38 artists that you could check out, so there was so much to buy. I just wanted to buy hundreds of stuff, but I gotta save my money… 🙁

Anyways, here’s a slideshow of some of the booths and some of the dope finds you can get there!

After you manage to get through all of the booths, you will notice the huge gaming area.

GAMING

In the gaming area, there were the tabletop gaming area, console gaming, pc gaming, and even retro arcade gaming.

In the tabletop area, you were able to play different board games and card games, such as Yugioh or Magic.

In the console gaming, there were all sorts of consoles, from the old ones to the new ones. They had multiple TVs set around with chairs and bean bags to your liking.

For the pc gaming, there were a bunch of people playing CrossFire, CS Go, and even Overwatch…I’m pretty sure there were other games as well, but those were the main ones I saw that weekend.

MANNN, but I was really hyped for the arcade games! There were all sorts of games, and even Japanese arcade games. I wasn’t able to play any games, since there were people constantly on it, but THERE WAS EVEN A Dance Dance Revolution game set up at the back of a car!! That’s the dream! These were hosted by the music artists, Decaying Tigers and they even had a live set.

If you were there most of the weekend, they had mutiple tournaments set up for the attendees. Here were the tournaments that went down:

  • Super Smash Bros
  • Virtual Fighter System
  • Street Fighter 5
  • Hearthstone
  • Crossfire
  • Clash Royale
  • Vanguard
  • Yugioh
  • Pokemon
  • Pokemon Go
  • 9 DKP

There was a lot of things going on, but if you thought that was it, YOU’RE WRONG!! There were WRESTLING MATCHES GOING ON ALL WEEKEND! Yeah! That’s right! WRESTLING!! TIME FOR MY INNER CHILD TO COME OUT! xD

WRESTLING

The wrestling ring was held by BIG VALLEY PRO WRESTLING, a local wrestling confederation that brings to you guys lots of people fighting, smack talking, FLYING BODIES, and of course, tons of entertainment overall. It was definitely something that I didn’t expect, but I was glad I was able to check it out. I was so easily distracted by that all weekend, but it was tons of fun watching and I’m not going to lie…I was cheering for my favorite wrestlers. HAHA.

Since we are on this talk about wrestlers and their personas they portray, we can’t forget about the cosplayers!

COSPLAYERS

There were tons of cosplayers there, both local to the LV/NV area, but also some that came out from California and neighboring cities. There were a bunch of characters you can think of in the anime world and video game world. I think I even recall seeing someone cosplay as MARSHMELLO. HAHAHA, if you guys know who that is…

OVERALL THOUGHTS

LVL UP Expo is on the come up! It was a great time meeting new people, checking out the anime and video game community out in Las Vegas, and is a convention that you should check out. It’s fun for the whole family and I have high expectations for it in the future.
