Yaeba? A Twisted Trend in Japan!

To be cute, would you ever get your tooth twisted?

In America, it is known for a lot of people to get their teeth straightened with the use of braces or retainers, but in Japan it is more of a trend to have your tooth crooked or twisted. This trend is called, “Yaeba.”

Popularized in the 1970s, there was always an attraction for some people in Japan to get their canine teeth fixed in a way that it looks a bit twisted, or pop up out more than usual. Some people may believe that this is attractive due to the woman looking more “childish” in a way that it looks “cute.”

There is a procedure called, tsuke yaeba, where people would either implant the canine tooth with a twisted tooth, or attach a cap on it that gives off the twisted look. It allows for the person to have an overlap of their teeth when they smile, which is somewhat noticed in the popularized tsundere character in a bunch of anime series, or any childish character for the matter. This procedure would cost a good amount of money, so if you’re really into that look, prepare to drop dough in order to get it.

Would you guys ever get this done?

What would you do for the fangs?
